Our Events

Throughout the year we hold numerous events to get involved with the amateur radio community in the Peace Country. See here for upcoming events and to learn about some of the things we do.

Saturday Breakfasts

The Peace Country Amateur Radio Club meets every Saturday morning at Monica’s Restaurant part of the Travelodge Inn in Grande Prairie (west end). This was previously the Stanford Inn. If you are new to the area, just passing through or a Grande Prairie Amateur Radio Operator, please stop in and have an eyeball QSO and breakfast with some very interesting Amateur Radio operators.

Location: Travelodge Hotel 11401 100 Ave GP
Time: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

Field Days

Field Day is an annual amateur radio exercise that encourages emergency communications preparedness among amateur radio operators. Operations using emergency and alternative power sources are highly encouraged, since electricity and other public infrastructures are often among the first to fail during a natural disaster, emergency situation or severe weather event.

To determine the effectiveness of the exercise and of each participant’s operations, there is an integrated contesting component.

The Peace Country Amateur Radio Club typically holds its Field Day every year in June and activities typically include:

  • Camping
  • Testing Various Antenna Configurations
  • Contesting
  • Visiting with Club Members

The PCARC invites all members of the community to come try out the microphone for themselves!
