Hi, there. My name is Ian Hynes. I have a question to ask of one of you. My father Stan Hynes was a ham radio operator in newfoundland in the port au port Area for many years, he has recently passed away here in grand prairie, he had his radio ID put on his license plate and I have his license plate. I was wondering if somebody could get in touch with me, I would like to have something broadcast in his honor and you can let me know if that would be possible at my cell phone number at 780 605 4347.
Hi Ian. Sorry we missed this as we have been in a transition stage and we have not started to update our webpage until April 2025. When we have word of a Silent Key (an operator who has passed on) we announce the name, call sign, date of passing on our Sunday evening 2 Meter Net and we observe one minute of silence to honor and remember a fellow Amateur Radio Operator. If you are still interested in this you can contact me as I am the Net Controller on our net and would gladly honor your father. Reply to this text and I will receive an email informing me that you have left a comment.
Kindest Regards,
Dwayne VE6HX
Hi, Dwayne. Thank you so much for getting back to me. We did not have his funeral services yet. I do have his license plate with his radio tag. I was hoping to send a message to his group in newfoundland and if some one could say something in his name, also I was hoping to be able to be there to hear the broadcast, if that’s possible. He was self-taught, and he spoke with people all over the world. He knew morse code inside and out..lol, He also set up all the of the equipments, all by himself. This was about 25 years ago and when he became unable to live by himself anymore he came to live with me. Out here in grande prairie, for the last of his years,, i know he really missed it. I will save this email and I will get back in touch with you if that is okay. And maybe we can speak more about it.., thank you so much dwayne.,You have a great one.
